legos + words

speaking terms has become a cat and mouse game.
someone expects you to apologize, while you're still waiting for their call. nobody wants to beat around the bush, but you both know it won't go anywhere until you say something to each other. yet you still sit by the phone, or "check the time" as you go about your day.

i have this theory, that words are like legos. every word you say to someone. you add it to their being. it becomes a part of who they are. these labels shape them and affect how they end up. if people made their legos into beautiful labels, words would not have any other affect than good.

what does this have to do with speaking terms?

i have watched too many relationships crumble under the pressure of name calling. i am not saying people sat across from each other, spitting hate to demolish the other's feelings. they disguised it. masked it with pity and pride. first, it starts out simple: two people, one relationship, and a few unknown facts. soon, these unknown facts assemble into lies created by the jealousy of those around them.
